ANNAPOLIS, MD — Thomas Raymond Doran, 91, a 20-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Hyattsville, MD, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his home. Born on January 25, 1926 in Cleveland, OH to the late Raymond Ketchum and Julia Doran, Thomas graduated in 1944 from Benedictine High School in Richmond, VA.After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served during WWII with the Air Transport Command in India. He was stationed for two years at the airbases in Chabua and Barrackpore, before leaving for home on Easter Sunday 1946. He was honorably discharged at Fort Meade, MD on May 25.After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology in 1951 from the Catholic University of America, Thomas made his career as an Economist/Statistician for the Army Corps of Engineers, Board of Engineers for Rivers and Harbors, in Washington, DC and at Ft. Belvoir, VA. He retired after 33 years of service.An avid Washington Nationals and Maryland Terrapin fan, Thomas was a member of the University of Maryland Terrapin Club in College Park. He was the loving husband of Julia Ann Knestout Peters.Born November 1, 1950, in Hyattsville, Md., he was a son of Betty Louise Hartley and the late Sumner Eugene Peters.Bruce is also survived by his children, Cheryl Pron, Pamela Lightner and husband, Billy, Travis William Peters and wife, Faith; grandchildren, Cole Mattox, Emma Lightner, William Lightner, Chloe Bella Peters; sister, Janis Leachman and husband, George; brother, Larry Peters and wife, Nancy; and other family and friends.Bruce was a United States Air Force Veteran of Vietnam; he retired from the Secret Service, where he served at the White House. He is a member of Resurrection Catholic Church.A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2016, by Father Mark Knestout and Bishop Barry Knestout at Resurrection Catholic Church in Moneta.
