June 5, 1921 – February 18, 2017Ruby Marie Chapman, 95, of Olney, Illinois, formerly of Willow Hill, Illinois, passed away at 1:35 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the funeral home. In loving memory of Ruby, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Monday, February 06, 2017January 17, 1962, in Robinson, Illinois, the son of Ralph Dean and Almeda Rae (Hester) Brooks. He was a 1980 graduate of Casey High School in Casey, Illinois, and a 2011 graduate of Olney Central College. Dennis served his country in the United States Air Force for 18 years where he served as supply sergeant of the 552 Air Control Wing at Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After his service in the air force he became a prison guard working in Plainfield, Indiana. Dennis was a member of Scott Avenue Christian Church and enjoyed his Monday Night men’s Bible study classes. He was a member of the Del City Masonic Lodge in Del City, Oklahoma. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and camping.Dennis is survived by his children, Daniel (Billi) Brooks of Willow Hill and Jacob (Kehli Lautenschlager) Brooks of Newton; grandchildren, Willow Brooks and 2 grandsons to be born soon; sisters, Doris Facer of Newton, Deania (Tony) Trimble of Newton, Anna (Joshua) Shlachter of Gurnee, and Janet Cramer of Newton.Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Eugene and Ruby Hester and Victor and Beulah Brooks.

During his time at MSU, he graduated Summa Cum Laude earning his Bachelor of Sciences degree, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Biology in 1973. He was also named Outstanding graduate of the School of Science and Mathematics. After graduating from MSU, he attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston earning his Medical Degree in 1981.
