WHITEHALL — Goodwin J. Anderson, 99, of Whitehall died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Grand View Care Center in Blair. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jack Funeral Home, Whitehall. Burial with military rites will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Whitehall. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Jack Funeral Home, Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.

M.E. "Mickey" Nelson has died after a cancer diagnosis. He was 71.Nelson died Sunday night at St. Peter's Hospital in Helena due to complications of cancer, K & L Mortuaries & Crematory in Whitehall said in a statement Monday.Nelson had served as coroner for 42 years.He was recently criticized for being behind on updating death certificates in cases where the initial cause of death was listed as "pending." In some cases, final certificates were needed to settle estates and apply for life insurance payments. Former employees also complained about a lack of organization in his office.The county removed staff members from his supervision in late July over allegations that they were being subjected to a hostile work environment due to derogatory, discriminatory, sexually inappropriate and racially insensitive comments. Nelson said staff members never complained to him.Nelson is survived by his wife, his son and daughter and six grandchildren.Funeral arrangements were not immediately announced.

Courtney, Jr., of Sellersville; eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Verostick and Carl Verostick, and a sister, Anna Schanen.Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m.Interment with full military honors will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local food pantry, Pennridge FISH, P.O.
