Kan., Garry Sorrell and wife Betty of Sedalia, and Debra Phillips of Lincoln, Neb.In 1968, in Sedalia, he married Wanda Lewis, who resides of the home. Children are Linda Williams and husband Doug of Lebanon, Michael Barber of Lebanon, Donna Hendrickson of Spearman, Texas, Lori McCullough and husband David of Sedalia, David Sorrell and wife Deann of Columbia and Scott Sorrell and wife Missy of Rolla.Al lived many years in Monroe City where he worked at a hotel before he went to work for the Henderson Produce Company where he became plant manager.While working at Henderson’s, Al was drafted into the Army. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was trained as a surgical technician and served in a medical unit for the 192nd Ordnance Battalion. He served in the South Pacific during the Second World War including the Battle of Okinawa. Al was the last surviving veteran of the company with whom he served.After the war, Al returned to his work at Henderson’s until he moved to Sedalia in 1965 where he worked for MFA, Swift and Company, and Central States Tool and Engine. Al worked at Central States until his full retirement in 1994.In his spare time, Al enjoyed working on cars and small engines, particularly lawn mowers. He called himself a “neighborhood mechanic” but others often referred to him as “Mr. Fix-It” because it seemed like he could repair just about anything.One of Al’s favorite roles in life was that of “Papa ‘Rel.” He was a beloved grandfather and was even called Papa ‘Rel by his grandchildren’s friends.He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lucas Koch, Lance Koch, Kady Roberts, Lori Sorrell, Justin Sorrell, Lacey Belt, Shelby Teeter, Andrew Sorrell, Dana Kizzier, Jamie Malone, Lisa Shu...

Frank Laine Jr., age 77 of Lebanon died May 18, 2017 at Summit Medical Center. A native of Wilson County he was the son of the late Frank Laine Sr. and Laura Hastings Laine. He was a 1957 graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Cumberland University. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired from IBM with thirty-seven years of service. He was a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge # 98 F & AM and The Knights Templar.He was preceded in death by a wife, Coyalene McPeak Laine; five sisters: Iva Dell McMinn, Frances VanHook, Dorothy Locke, Martha Bell, Linda Yarbrough; two brothers: Ralph and David Laine. Ocean CityGeorge William Sherk, age 73, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2017 in the Neurotrauma ICU of the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.Born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Sherk.He is survived by his wife and companion, Dolores E. Rothermel, who were together for nearly 47 years; his step-son, Robert A. Rothermel, Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Ocean City, Maryland; a step-niece, Melody Cedarstrom, of Berlin, Maryland; a brother, Cedric Sherk, and a niece, Susan.The light of his life were his two grandsons, Jonathan B. Rothermel and his fiancée, Megan, and William B. Rothermel, also of Ocean City. He is also survived by a special family friend Prashant Manral.George, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, served overseas on embassy duty and was shot twice while carrying documents in North Africa.
