Great photos and layout. The sidebar listing probably 50 resources should serve as a reference for families and organizations in the country for the next few years.”The staff at the News-Bulletin also won a second-place award in the Design and Typography category.Fox won a first-place award in the Feature Writing category for her August 2015 La Vida story titled “Strength through Words and Wisdom” about Maria Nieto’s research and book about the Spanish Civil War.Garcia also won a first-place award in the Feature Photo category for her photo titled “Up, Up & Away.” The photo was taken aboard the Beagle Maximus special shape hot air balloon in March at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Balloon Rallye. The judges wrote “Hot air balloons can provide a lot of color and is often what photographers go for, but in this case, the framing of the image is perfect. Really drew me in to see what was going on and I kept returning to this image. Has a journalistic feel but is very artistic.”Garcia, who was elected this year to the New Mexico Press Association board of directors, also won a second-place award in the Obituary News category for the June 2016 story titled “Heart of the Hub City: Remembering Trinnie “Pito Pito” Baca.”Dendinger won a first-place award in the News Writing category for the September 2015 story titled “Williams sentenced to 17 years for fatal cras...
