Whisnantshelbystar@shelbystar.comRonnie Hawkins didn't get a chance to serve his fifth term on the Cleveland County Board of CommissionersBut his legacy will long be remembered. Hawkins died in his Kings Mountain home on Thursday at the age of 64.From economic development to education to improving the county's health and animal welfare facilities, Hawkins will be remembered by his peers for leaving his mark on numerous facets of community life. The community is invited to view and pay respects to Hawkins Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home, 108 South Piedmont Ave., Kings Mountain.A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 605 West King Street, Kings Mountain. The Rev. Greg Martin and Dr. John Sloan will officiate. Visitation will follow immediately after the service.
