Janet E. (Neal) Allen, 81, of Windsor, beloved wife of Ernest "Bill" Allen for 60 years, passed away, Saturday, March 25, 2017.Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Ralph and Gertrude Neal, she graduated from Bates College with a degree in Sociology in 1957. She was employed by the State of Maine for several years until moving to Windsor with her newly retired Air Force veteran husband, Bill, in 1972. She was then employed until retirement as food service supervisor for the Windsor Public Schools. She was a former member of the Poquonock Community Church where she was active on numerous boards and commissions and currently a member of the First Church in Windsor. She was a member of the Windsor Jesters working on costumes and backstage for many years. She also enjoyed her membership in the Red Hat Society. Besides her husband Bill, she leaves a son Neal W. John Emory and Mae (Kenderdine) Wise. He was the great-grandson of the Franklin Pierce Weisel and Eugene Kenderdine families of Bucks County and the John Emory Wise Sr. family of Windsor, York County. He was a 1943 graduate of the former Lansdale High School, where he was a member of the championship cross country team.After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as a paratrooper demolition specialist in the 327th Infantry Division, 101st Airborne in the European Theater of Operation during World War II. He fought in the Rhineland and Ardennes-Alsace campaigns, which included the Battle of the Bulge.Bin was employed for many years in the family wallpapering and plastering business. He had also worked in the National Union Division of Philco Ford, Lansdale, where he met his future wife. He also was employed as a truck driver for Lansdale Transportation, Lansdale and Roadway and Contract Service, both of Colmar, and Ryder Truck Rental and Leasing, Pennsburg. After his retirement, he served as a driver for the IHM sisters of Marywood in Scranton.Mr. Wise was a long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville and the former St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Exeter.Emory was a lifetime member of the Sellersville Fire Department. The Rev. James Talley was a pastor; a businessman; and, according to those who knew him, a tireless supporter of the Strawbridge Shrine in New Windsor, the first home of the Methodist Church in the New World. He was president of the Strawbridge Shrine Association up until the time of his death.Talley died Saturday, New Year's Eve, after suffering a heart attack outside his New Windsor home. He was 76.Talley began his career in business and held a law degree from the University of Baltimore, according to Robert Shindle, director of the United Methodist Historical Society of the Baltimore-Washington Conference and vice president of the Strawbridge Shrine Association. Talley began working for the conference in the 1970s, becoming involved in efforts to purchase and preserve the Strawbridge property according to Shindle, a feat accomplished in 1973."Robert Strawbridge was the first preacher of Methodism in this country, in Colonial times," Shindle said. She was attending the University of Connecticut pursuing her Bachelors in Human Development and Family Services with a minor in Urban Studies. Sam was employed at Homewood Suites in Windsor Locks. James “Jim” Windsor was born March 15, 1931, in Bisbee, to Audrey and Leland Windsor. He entered into heaven on Feb. 3, 2017.The family spent time in Idaho, where his love for fishing began. He graduated from Bisbee High School. He was a busy student who was involved in sports, especially football, where he was part of an all-star team.After high school, he spent some time as an MP in the U.S. Air Force. He worked sometime with Phelps Dodge in Bisbee until an extended strike sent him to Monroe, Wisc., to work on an assembly line for the Phillips Corporation. He never got used to the cold winters so, when he retired, he returned home to Arizona to be near family and the warm winters.He took many courses at Eastern Arizona College, including: jewelry making, faceting, watercolor painting and stained glass. He was an avid bowler, always bowling on a team with his brothers.
