Brian Horton, 48, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at his residence. He was a graduate of Ringgold High School and Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a member of the United States Coast Guard and worked many years with U.S. Veterans Department. Brian was preceded in death by his grandfather, Oscar Price. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Price Brown of Rockmart; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kristina Brown of Rockmart and their children, Jonathon Brown, Brandon Brown and Abigail Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Rock Hardin of Dalton and their children, Christiana Willocks, Brady Willocks and Connor Willocks; grandparents, Barbara and William Brown; and special fur buddy, Stormy. Graveside services will be on Monday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at West Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ellsworth Mines, 76, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in Clarksville, Tennessee.   Mr. Mines was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga before moving to Clarksville to be closer to his beloved grandchildren. Ellsworth was born June 24, 1940, in Winchester, Tn. He joined the United States Navy in 1957 then married Martha Sue Mines in 1960. He owned his own catering service, Bronc’s Catering and also worked many years for Adams Lithographing Company.  Ellsworth had a passion for reading books and viewing western movies.  He was an avid coin and stamp collector, a hobby he enjoyed very much. He was known for being a kind and thoughtful man.  He never met a stranger and would always share his stories and experiences with others. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Martha Sue Mines and his beloved mother, Lillie Mae Mines; brothers, Kenneth and Ronald Mines. Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Timothy, Dan and Patricia Mines; four grandsons, Adam, Matthew, Timothy and Jacob Mines; one granddaughter, Reegen Bailey; four great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Lorelei Rutledge, Beck...

Otis Roland Hayes Jr., 79, died on Monday, April 10, 2017 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born in Chattanooga, on Nov. 17, 1937. He was the eldest son of the three sons born to the late Reverend Dr. O. R. and Senna M. Hayes.Otis graduated from Howard High School in Chattanooga in 1954 and from Tennessee State A & I University in 1958, presently Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN and continued his musical endeavors with a multi-faceted entertainment career. He began his public school teaching career when he served as the band director at Washington High School in Crestview, FL.  Otis returned to Chattanooga and served as the band director at Orchard Knob Junior High School. Upon leaving Chattanooga, he served as the band director at Fillmore Senior High School in Los Angeles, CA.Otis was regarded as a gifted “Musician’s” musician, who played several instruments. He produced and recorded numerous jazz renditions throughout his lifetime, as well as a book of quotes. Floyd Raymond Owen, 94, of Rossville, Georgia, died on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at his daughter's home.A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Owen retired from Sears after more than 30 years of service. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was an avid gardener, woodworker, enjoyed flying, and most of all, loved his family.He served his church faithfully at Rossville First Baptist for 50 years.He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Owen; son, Terry Owen; parents, Arthur and Gladys Owen; brother, Herman Owen; and sisters, Geniva Demsey, Mabel Duckett and Thelma Hydas.Survivors are his daughter, Debra (Lamar) Plunkett, Ringgold; granddaughter, Tabitha Bohannon (Jamie Harris); two grandsons, Aaron Plunkett (Danielle Smith), and Greg Owen (Heather Fox);  five great-grandchildren, Wyatt Owen, Maddox and Parker Bohannon, Jaxson and Ingread Harris;  daughter-in-law, Sheila Owen; and several nieces and nephews.Services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Bill Mason and Reverend Paul Williams officiating.
