Monday, April 03, 2017Lord on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at his home.He was a member of Elk Creek Baptist Church in Cumberland City. He was a former Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America and a life member of VFW of Harriman Post 6598. He served in World War II from 1941 to 1945 and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, six Battle Stars, the American Defense Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart.John was a son of the late Harold C. and Dora Williamson Sanders. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Olene Sanders; two brothers, Charles W. Sanders and Clarence Boyce Sanders; one sister, Dora Dean McCart; and one grandchild, Sherry Sanders.Survivors include his sons, Harold A. Sanders of Cumberland City, Charles A. Sanders of Riceville, and John A. Sanders of Decatur; one daughter, Vickie D. Sanders Scherzer of Spring City; two brothers, Ray Sanders and William "Bill" Sanders; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Monday, December 19, 2016Pauline P. Cass, 94, of Soddy Daisy, died on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Soddy Daisy Health Care. Pauline was born in Harriman, Tn., on June 11, 1922, to the late George and Nellie (Cox) Payne. She retired from Dupont after more than 30 years. She was a member of Jubilee Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Worley E. Cass and son, Ronnie Cass.Survivors include her son, Thomas Cass of McMinnville; grandchildren, Christie Cass Kilpatrick and Thomas Nelson Cass II; great-grandchildren, Jana Bailey Kilpatrick, Catherine Brooke Kilpatrick, and Judson Bradley Kilpatrick; brother, Arthur Lee; and sisters, Betty, Gerry, and Jean.The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 4-7 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson.
