Monday, March 06, 2017Orrin, Caleb and Sadie; one brother Greg (Sharon) and two sisters Pat (Jim) Lockhart, Barbara (Mike) Smith.Visitation for family and friends will be held at Sterling-White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, TX 77562 on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Charles will then be transported to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home, 2051 E. Napoleon St., Sulphur, LA 70663 where funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 with burial following at Mamosa Pines Cemetery.
Monday, February 06, 2017Midlothian; sons, James Lucas Stone (Becca) of West Medford, Mass. and Jacob Hunter Stone of Richmond; daughters, Jordan Louise Pickering (Dan) of St. Paul, Minn. and Keller Stone Johnson (Andrew) of Lynchburg, Va.; her six grandchildren, Caleb, Cole and Caroline Johnson of Lynchburg, Sam and Annie Stone of West Medford, Mass., and Paige Pickering of St. Paul, Minn.; and her cousin, Audrey Thompson of Charlottesville. She was a 1974 graduate of Lane High School in Charlottesville and received her RN degree from Piedmont Community College in 1982 before moving to Richmond. She left nursing to become a full time mom in 1988 and served many roles including room mother, Bible study leader, mission friend's teacher, mission project leader and exchange student host mom. She was a long time member of Huguenot Road Baptist Church. Debbie had a vibrant personality, a tremendous gift for hospitality, was an avid bridge and tennis player and loved to travel. Her most cherished role was "Gi" to her ever increasing number of grandchildren. She was widely loved, left us too soon and will be greatly missed. The family received friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, January 29 , 2017, at The Huguenot Chapel - Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Midlothian, VA 23113. In addition to his mother, Cornelia Webb and her husband, William of Lynchburg; survivors include his longtime companion, Anne Gaulding of Scottsville; a sister, Amy Hassenpflug and husband, Leon of Lynchburg; a half-brother, David Scott of Lynchburg and his mother, Gail Scott of Oxford, Florida; two nieces, Rachel Hartline and husband, Beau of Dodgeville, Wisconsin and Madeline Hassenpflug of Lynchburg; and a number of other extended family members and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home by the Reverend James O. Radford. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m., Monday evening, January 23, 2017, at the funeral home. Monday, January 09, 2017After an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, where he served as a medic during the Korean War, he began his career in the banking industry. He graduated from Lynchburg College in 1956. George was also a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking, Rutgers University, University of Virginia American Institute of Bank Management, Public Relations and Marketing and North Western University. He held several offices in various local banking associations before his retirement. Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Laughon Marshall; two daughters, Stephanie Willis and Andrea Dahlman; and four grandchildren, Kyle Willis, Peyton Willis, Spencer Dahlman and Stewart Dahlman. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Oakey's South Chapel. A private graveside service will follow at the Chapel of Light in Evergreen Burial Park with the Rev. Joe Roberts, Pastor of Boones Mill Christian Church, officiating. Also, surviving is her daughter, Diane Tuggle and husband Lynnwood, of Buckhannon, and four sons, David and wife Jennifer of Richmond, Va., Charles Jr. and wife Jeri of Lynchburg, Va., Douglas and Kitty of Richmond and Danny and wife Gina of Bridgeport, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by two sisters, Kay Parks, of Johnson City, Tenn. and Valerie McFarland of Phoenix, Ariz. and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School with the class of 1952 and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon and was a member of the D.A.R. Barbara was a wonderful loving wife and mother, and was a hero to her family putting their needs above everything else. In the 1980s and 1990s, when Barbara lived in Lynchburg, Va., she loved to make crafts and display them at craft shows all over Virginia. During that period, after the children were grown, she worked at the CVCC book store, and also volunteered at her church, where she was the financial secretary. Barbara loved to travel in the motor home, and was a member of the Mountaineer Chapter of The Family Motor Coach Association.
