Saturday, June 10, 2017Monday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service.Mr. McDougal passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 12, 2017, at his home.Gerald is survived by two children, Lori McDougal of Ogdensburg and Steven McDougal of Jefferson City, Missouri; two brothers, William McDougal and his wife, Joanne, of Syracuse and James McDougal and his wife, Joan, of Syracuse; a sister, Diane Ryan and her husband, Raymond, of Syracuse and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerald is predeceased by two brothers, Joseph McDougal and David R. McDougal and a sister, Katherine Finley.Gerald was born on September 10, 1944, in Hammond, NY, the son of Robert and Evelyn Hague McDougal. He attended Morristown Central School. Gerald married Joan R. Wilson on October 17, 1964 in Altona, NY. She predeceased him on August 17, 2003. Mr. McDougal and his brother, David, were partners in the family farm on the English Settlement Road in Morristown for many years. Gerald retired in 2000.Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending his mornings at Parkway in Morristown having coffee with his buddies.Donations may be made in Gerald’s memory to the Morristown Vol. Fire and Rescue Co. 1, 200 Morris St. or P.O. Tuesday, April 18, 2017As a young man, he was the recipient of the Keystone Farmer Award for outstanding farming, as-well-as many other conservation awards for farming. He was a member of the Susquehanna Car Club, the Ogdensburg Gun Club, Sullivan County Planning Commission, Evergreen Lodge #163 F. & A.M., and an honorary member of the Sullivan County Fair where he formerly served as vice president. He was a former member of the Sullivan County Conservation District, and past president of the Greenwood Cemetery Association. Bill enjoyed hunting with family and friends. He loved people so much; testified to by the countless numbers he called Friend! Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Jennifer H. (Marty) Stabley of Hummelstown, and Julie H. (Kevin) Witmer of Watsontown; two sons, Jeffrey B. (Dedra) Hart of Charlotte, NC, and Jon W. The North Ogden man died last week at age 84.Known by many for his wide-ranging interests and endeavors, he is remembered most as a businessman and president of Myers Mortuary and Cremation Services. One of his best lifetime friends, Nate Tanner, described Myers as the “consummate” funeral director.“He was quiet, dignified and genteel,” Tanner said. “But he was a cowboy at heart.”RELATED: Richard E.
