Monday, January 23, 2017Ralph Andrus, Jr. was born May 18, 1921, in Spanish Fork, Utah to Ralph H. Andrus, Sr. and Susanna Burch. He was the second of four children and grew up milking cows, herding sheep and driving cattle.His greatest love in the animal world was horses, but he had a particular fondness for a monkey named Rosie which he brought home from his years of military service in the Philippines. When he proposed to his girlfriend, Ruth Facer, he told her if she didn’t take his ring, he would give it to Rosie. Much to Rosie’s chagrin, Ruth was quick to say she would be honored to wear it. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 15, 1946.He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, parents, one brother, one sister, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild. Monday, September 26, 2016Pleasant Hill district.A GoFundMe online page has been launched by Jeffs’ family to help pay for funeral expenses.“My amazing nephew Jordan Jeffs passed away last night,” Mara Holbrook of Spanish Fork, Utah, wrote on Wednesday. “He was coming home from seeing his girlfriend before she left to go to (Brigham Young University)-Idaho. (The crash is) under investigation, but the whole driver side (of Jeffs’ vehicle) was smashed in, and he died instantly.“I know that everything happens for a reason, but can’t describe the pain I feel and let alone the pain my sister Emily and her husband Jared and the other five children feel right now,” Holbrook wrote.The crash occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Parkway Road at Wheeler Road, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.Jeffs was driving a Mazda 626 sedan east on Valley Road when it collided with a 2000 Ford four-door vehicle that was southbound on Parkway Road, the sheriff’s office said. Valley Road becomes Wheeler Road on the east side of Highway 222, or Parkway Road. There is a stop sign on both sides of the highway.The injured driver of the Ford, who was not immediately identified, was taken to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.There were no passengers in either vehicle, sheriff’s Sgt. Carrie Carver said.Carver said the Oregon State Police is conducting a crash reconstruction and assisting the sheriff’s office in the investigation.
