He was born on October 28, 1956 in Nelson County, son of the late Bruce W. Phillips Sr. and Nettie Elizabeth (Banton) Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce W. Phillips Jr.Harold graduated from the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in 1976. He then worked at and retired from Woodberry Forest School. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He handcrafted many items with his woodworking and loved to travel, having gone to numerous places, including Canada.Harold was a member of the Fredericksburg and Richmond Deaf Clubs. He is survived by his companion, Jean Shiflett, and her children, Violet Shiflett and Sandy Kessler of Fredericksburg, and their families. He is also survived by his sister, Rebecca Phillips; two nephews, Quinton and Alfred Phillips, all of Schuyler; two special cousins, Pete Banton and Pat Banton Robertson; and many other cousins.A fune...

Born June 3, 1933, in Fork Union, she was a daughter of the late George Archer Glass and Mary Helen Dennis Glass. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hunter Crawford Kirby; a grandson, Edward Kirby; five brothers and seven sisters. Mrs Kirby was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Cook and husband, Rob, of Pomfret, Md., Crystal Payne and husband, Buster, of Gordonsville, Audrey Gibson and husband, Scott, of Gordonsville; one son, James Kirby and wife, Pamela, of Accokeek, Md.; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Fred Clodfelter and wife, Lynn, of Plymouth, N.C.; her faithful Chihuahua, Chico; and a host of other relatives and friends. In Lebanon, she worked at Texas Boot and was a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and wife. She spent her life taking care of her family and loving God.
