Monday, May 01, 2017Home in Lyndon Station, Wis., with Pastor Rick Engen officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.Ryan was born Nov. 5, 1995, in La Crosse. He attended high school in Wisconsin Dells, and following graduation, to satisfy his ambition to serve his country, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Virginia, attaining the rank of HT3/E4. His primary duties were hull maintenance technician, where he was able to apply his abilities and talents as a fabricator and welder on-board ship. While in high school, Ryan had worked for two years as a lifeguard at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, had a love and interest in cars and trucks, and enjoyed playing guitar. Ryan is survived by his wife, Alexis Leigh Fladhammer; father, Doyle (Diane) Fladhammer of Wisconsin Dells; mother, Debra (Terry) Monroe of Hawkeye, Iowa; siblings, Brent and Allison of Wisconsin Dells; and paternal grandparents, James and Verna Fladhammer of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Hazel Flynn. Moe passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Mayo Health System in La Crosse, with family at his side.John was born March 10, 1940, in La Crosse to Jane Moe. He attended Holy Trinity, St. Thomas More and Aquinas schools. He graduated from Central in 1958.Following high school, John joined the U.S. Navy, serving as a hospital corpsman. He remembered fondly his days at various duty stations in California, especially his time at Naval Air Station Point Mugu. After the Navy, John worked as an orderly at St. Francis hospital in La Crosse. It was there met Janet Purdy. They married November 4, 1961.John attended college at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, receiving his B.S. in biology and his M.S. in biology. He attended the University of Wisconsin for further graduate studies in wildlife ecology, researching ruffed grouse throughout Vernon County.After working for A.J. Sweet of La Crosse for several years, John returned to teaching, subbing at various schools in the area. He held a special place in his heart for the staff and students of the Cashton...
Monday, March 27, 2017Joan Ruth Kilbey passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.She was born Jan. 4, 1966, in La Crosse, the daughter of S. Michael and Regina M. (Markos) Kilbey. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Episcopal Church.Joan was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1984, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with minors in both mathematics and psychology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She taught in Wisconsin and Arizona public schools. She also led educational programs for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Phoenix and served as director of education for the Arizona Humane Society.Joan was a licensed real estate agent for 17 years. During those years she was recognized multiple times for Outstanding Sales Performance and was named Sales Consultant of the Year. She also earned a broker’s license in 2006. In 2014, Joan became managing broker for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Move Time Reality in Chandler and Scottsdale, Ariz. He was also the Family Life Director for the Diocese of La Crosse, Wis., and co-founded the Family Center Inc., in Wisconsin Rapids for abused women and children.On November 6h, 1988, Joseph married the love of his life, Rosemary Czappa and they had 28 beautiful years together. Joseph worked as a psychotherapist for the University of Minnesota Medical Center of Fairview, Minn. He also worked for the Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin. He co-founded Grace Place shelter in Somerset, Wis., for homeless people. Joseph and Rosemary lived in Somerset from 1990 to 2010. Joseph and Rosemary moved to Rochester in 2010, where they remained until he passed.Joseph will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Rosemary; his stepchildren, Shawn (Kim) Thomas and their children, Austin and Delany.
