Monday, February 20, 2017Sharon was born and grew up in Lowry City Missouri. After graduating from Lowry City High in 1963 as salutatorian, Sharon worked at Richards-Gebaur Air Reserve Station in Grandview, Missouri. In 1982 she moved to Purdy, Missouri, and purchased the Monett Bowl, which she owned and operated until 1984. She was united in marriage to Glen Garrett in 1985. Sharon’s head for business lead her to purchase the well-loved children’s clothing store, The Trunk, also in Monett. She loved the retail environment and enjoyed dressing the generations of children in the 31 years she owned the store. During this time, she continued to build her roots in the community as a president of the Monett Chamber of Commerce, participation in the annual Festival of Lights Celebrations, and was elemental in the building of the 1st State Bank Monett branch in the early 1990s alongside her husband Glen Garrett, which has since grown to five banking locations across southwest Missouri. Sharon sold The Trunk in 2014, and turned her focus on a new business venture when she purchased The UPS store in Branson West. Sharon served on The Missouri Tourism Committee, president of the Precious Moments Club, and served on the Monett Downtown Betterment Committee.
