Saturday, June 10, 2017Ron Andrew Kane, Sr. passed on Thursday night, March 9, 2017, at the age of 68.Ron was born on November 19, 1948, in Rochester, Pa. He worked in the steel industry in Pennsylvania and Michigan for over 40 years, and he enjoyed his work.Ron loved to watch his grandchildren grow up and he rarely missed a gymnastics meet, a hockey game, a dance show, or a choir or band concert. His children and his grandchildren were his true joys in life, and watching them grow gave him immense happiness.Ron was married to Bonnie on February 7, 1970; they were married for 47 years. He is survived by his two children, his son Ronald (Emily Mullins), and his daughter Ronda (Joel) Abramson; his three grandchildren, Audrey, Holden and Jenna; his brother, Don, and the late Alberta Stephenson, John, Bernard, Francis and Marlene Vuketich; his nephews, John and Vince; his many other nieces and nephews, and the rest of his family and friends.He was predeceased by his mother, Sylvia, and his father, John Kane.Visitation will be Monday, March 13, 2017, at the O'BRIEN/SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 41555 Grand River Ave., Novi, Mich., fro...

Saturday, April 08, 2017He was a world renowned expert discovering new species and assisting with the description of heretofore unknown and rare minerals, a generous lecturer and teacher, a co-founder of the Rochester Mineralogical Symposium, and a prolific contributor to mineralogical literature. He was admired and respected by many professors, many curators worldwide, scores of internationally renowned collectors, and loved by hundreds of children who have received tours and starter mineral collections from him. He was self taught in his knowledge of minerals. His contributions to his field were so notable that a biannual medal was created in his honor - the “Pinch Medal” recognizing excellence by a non professional for contributions to mineralogical science. A reception will be held in Rochester, NY in the coming weeks to celebrate his life. In February of 2018, the Pinch family will hold a memorial in Tucson, Arizona for friends and family to gather and remember Bill. Oakes, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.Daughter of the late Dr. Albert and Lucille Beaupre Barcomb, Jeanne was born and raised in Rochester, New Hampshire, and graduated from Simmons College in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Jeanne and Bill moved to Fairfield, Connecticut in 1966. After raising her four children, she returned to work as a chemist for Polymer Industries and Stolt-Nielson Shipping Co. and as a chemistry lab instructor at Fairfield University.Jeanne made many close friends through her community work and enthusiasm for bridge. Genealogy became her retirement hobby providing her with many reasons to travel nationally and internationally. She enjoyed cruising and summers spent in Maine with friends and family.A loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be greatly missed by all that knew her beautiful smile, warmth, strength and zest for life.
