Monday, June 26, 2017Robert M. “Rob” Sullivan, 54 of Bridgeport, CT formerly of Shrewsbury passed away on June 10, 2017.He was born in Worcester son of the late John and Marilyn (Johnson) Sullivan. He leaves two sisters, June Eressy and her husband Michael and Nancy Buniowski, both of Worcester; also survived by five nieces, two nephews; and his dear friends Geri and John Whitlock of Fairfield, CT. He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Sullivan and his brother-in-law Steven Buniowski.Rob was a graduate of Saint John’s High School and Fairfield University. He worked as a journalist for many years and served as the editor of the Bridgeport Banner. His book Political Corruption in Bridgeport was published in 2014. Rob loved politics and was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams. Above all, he was a man of great faith and was a devout Catholic.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass celebrating Rob’s life on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00 am at Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Rainfall totals as of 7:45 a.m. included 1.5 inches in Greenwood, 1.02 in Bridgeport, 0.95 in Alvord, 0.88 in Decatur and 0.51 in Rhome. The rain is expected to end this morning before an afternoon high of 84.DRIVER’S EDUCATION – Decatur High School’s driver’s education class starts Monday at the McCarroll Middle School Multipurpose Building. Participants must be 15 years old by July 1. Class fee is $75, and the driving fee is $225. Payment must be made at the DHS office before the first class. The 40-year-old was killed while trying to rescue people trapped in the World Trade Center. His obituary said he was survived by two daughters, 11-year-old Anne and 5-year-old Caitlin.School officials said counseling services were being provided.‘‘The SHU community is mourning today,’’ the school said in a statement Monday. ‘‘We ask that during this time you give Caitlin’s family and the members of the SHU community privacy while they grieve.’’According to her LinkedIn page, Caitlin was certified in youth mental health first aid and volunteered at the Resiliency Center of Newtown, a nonprofit group that provides free counseling and other services to people affected by the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School that killed 20 children and six educators.Funeral services have not been announced.

Tewell, age 67 of Bridgeport, Ill. decided he had had a great run and early Sunday morning on March 19, 2017, moved on to bigger and better things.Roger made his entrance on Sept. 25, 1949, welcomed by his parents; Wilma and Don Tewell, at their family home in Lawrenceville. Several years later, Roger decided life would be much better with Phyllis Matthews by his side. So on a hot day, Aug. 18, 1968, they were married at the First United Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport.Roger’s working career began while he was a young man, working with his Dad. Eventually he branched out, becoming the owner and operator of the Roger L. Tewell Construction Company. The company was his life for almost forty years and many benefited from his excellent craftsmanship and superior masonry work.Roger and Phyllis began their own legacy by welcoming a son, Thomas Tyler and later, a daughter, Tiffany Ann. The fun kicked up a notch when Tom married Rachel, Tiffany married Alan and the “grands” began arriving. They include: Dalt...
