Monday, March 27, 2017Cochran's studio, dedicated its set to Cochran at a benefit concert Friday night at The Acoustic Space, 124 S. 400 West in Salt Lake City.Jacki Chilton, owner of the venue, remembers Cochran as someone who helped band musicians "believe in themselves" and used his talent to put on great productions.The "tight-knit" music community wanted to honor Cochran, Chilton said, and hopes playing music he produced might help comfort his family."They've been riding with us since day one," guitarist and screamer Kurt Landenberger told the crowd of about 50 people gathered in the low-lit room as the show began.The Cochrans met the band members two and a half years ago at an open mic show, vocalist and guitarist Evan Mullaly said, and after recording their album, Cochran ran the soundboard for the band at various venues. Cochran was "motivating and genuinely kind," Mullaly said. He was "passionate about what he did, recognized other people's passions and would combine forces to make your dreams come true."The band played several songs they'd recorded with Cochran. Payne, acting as spokesman for both families, reiterated Friday their desire not to be contacted by news media.The same plea for privacy during their time of mourning was conveyed in a separate statement from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which earlier confirmed the Cochrans were in London on Wednesday to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, and to visit Melissa's parents, who are missionaries at the London Mormon Temple."Dear Media Colleagues, thank you for your kindness toward the Cochran/Payne family and your sensitivity in covering their stories. Monday, October 24, 2016New Holstein Elementary School and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1962.Gary attended UW Oshkosh and Moraine Park.On May 2, 1970, he married Donna Bennin in Chilton.Gary was a Detail Draftsman at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein until owning G & D Hardware in New Holstein for close to 20 years. He was a salesman for Truck Craft and Redi Ramp. In his later working career, he worked for Lenz Trucks transporting pickup trucks across the United States until retiring in 2014.Gary had served as an Alderman for the City of New Holstein and was head of the Park and Recreation Committee. He also worked as a volunteer policeman for the New Holstein Police Department.Gary was very active in the Boy Scouts. He belonged to the Men’s Bowling League and the Couple’s Bowling League at the Beacon. He also golfed with the Arp’s Golf League. Gary loved playing cards with the “Over the Hill” gang.Many locals in New Holstein and the surrounding area fondly remember Gary selling his beloved Christmas trees with his son and grandson during the holiday season. Gary and his grandson Tyler spent many memorable moments together on their various travel trips throughout the United States. It has been said that Gary put on more than a million miles throughout his career with Lenz Trucks.Gary was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Holstein where he also served on the church council.Survivors include his wife Donna;...
