Interment took place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. A vigil service with rosary was recited Jan. 20, 2017, at the church.Mr. Pivik, 79, of Rock Springs passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Mr. Pivik died following a brief illness.He was born Feb. 9, 1937, in Rock Springs, the son of Joseph Pivik and Dorothy Frances Taucher Pivik.Mr. Pivik attended schools in Rock Springs and was a 1955 graduate of Rock Springs High School.Mr. Pivik worked for Teton Lumber Company in Wilson following graduation. She accepted Christ at an early age at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Marshall Texas. She attended elementary and secondary education in Harrison County and furthered her education by completing 12th grade at Booker T. Washington High School in Wichita Falls, Texas.Services will be Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Robert M. Castle, Officiating and under the direction of Wells Funeral Home. Viewing will be Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Mt. Monday, August 29, 2016ROCK SPRINGS – An autopsy has been scheduled in the unattended death of a Rock Springs man.According to a joint release issued by the Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell and County Coroner Dale Majhanovich, the body of Jason Crompton, 40, was found at a Questar jobsite near the west entrance of the W Bar K Trailer Court west of Rock Springs on Monday afternoon.Sheriff’s deputies and other emergency responders were dispatched to the location at around 4:25 PM Monday afternoon. Crompton, a Questar employee, had been engaged in locating a natural gas pipeline tracer line, working alone with a shovel and garden hoe in a muddy hole estimated to be about four feet deep and some 20 inches wide.He was found by an employee of ELM Locating, who was working nearby. The employee called 911 and tried to lift Crompton out of the hole, but was unable to do so alone. He then flagged down a Fed Ex truck; together, he and the Fed Ex driver were able to remove Crompton from the hole. CPR was administer...
